How We Play
FALL & SPRING - Fifteens (XV)
This classic form of rugby has 15 players from each team on the field, a match has 40 minute halves. Points are scored by a “try” (for 5 points) when a player crosses the goal line and touches the ball to the ground and is followed by a kick (for 2 points).
Unlike many other sports, all players on the field participate in offense and defense. There are forwards, who are big and strong, and backs, who are typically lighter and faster. The wide range of positions and skills required to create a strong XV’s rugby team means that there is a role for every body shape and size on the pitch!
SUMMER - Sevens (7s)
This shorter, faster version of rugby has rapidly gained popularity since its addition to the Olympic Games in 2016. 7s has most of the same rules as XV’s, but only have 7 players from each team on the field. Games are shorter, with 7 minute halves and are typically played tournament style with 3-5 games in a day.
High-level 7s is catered towards very fast athletes however, we entertain a more social 7s side and encourage all players to participate. It’s a great way to increase stamina, play rugby, and have fun!
